Collaboration and Funding

The North Carolina School Health Training Center (the Center), has received continuous funding from the HIV Prevention Grant [North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI)] since 1993. Additional funding grants include the Youth Suicide Prevention Program [North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS)]. PREP Teen Pregancy Prevention Initiatives [NCDHHS], Title V [NCDPI], and Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Tobacco [NCDPI]. The Center is also a collaborative partner with the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Campaign of NC [APPCNC] and the Juvenile Justice Division of the North Carolina Department of Safety.

The Center's success depends on strong and effective collaboration with other health education professionals in North Carolina and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. Our association with these professionals and agencies enhances the content and credibility of the services we provide to North Carolina school teachers and social service employees.

"We value the support and cooperation that exists between our Center and these outside groups who also have the well-being of children and youth as their primary mission. It's this spirit of cooperation that enables us to be more effective in everything we do."

Donna Breitenstein, Center Director
